Overview

The Eastern Border Keep is a fortress on Avaria's eastern frontier. Built originally as a defensive outpost, it now serves primarily as a site for diplomatic meetings and cross-border coordination. With peace long established along the eastern border, the keep has been repurposed from a military stronghold into a Diplomatic Bastion—a neutral ground where Avaria and its eastern neighbours can treat, negotiate, and maintain ties.

Location

The keep stands along Avaria's eastern frontier, where the kingdom meets its eastern neighbours. Its position at the border makes it a natural venue for envoys, dignitaries, and officials who need a secure and recognised place to conduct formal talks and coordinate matters that span the border.

History

The Eastern Border Keep was built as a defensive outpost, part of the kingdom's eastern defences. It guarded the frontier and housed garrison forces. Over time, as peace took hold and relations with the lands to the east became stable, the keep's military role diminished. Rather than abandon the site, the crown and the realm's diplomats put it to new use.

Current Role

Today the keep functions primarily as a venue for **diplomatic meetings** and **cross-border coordination**. Envoys and officials from Avaria and neighbouring realms meet here to negotiate agreements, resolve disputes, and coordinate on trade, security, and other shared concerns. The keep's history as a fortress lends it both security and symbolic weight as a place where the kingdom treats with its neighbours on equal footing.
