House Meryndor is among the oldest noble families of Lumenara and the most visibly tied to the Crown's personal defence. For generations they have supplied captains to the Royal Guard, stewards of the Royal Castle's inner wards, and masters of ceremony for knighting rites and state funerals. Their motto is "Before the light, we stand."—a reference to Eldric the Lightbringer and the founding legend of Lumenara.

The Meryndors are martial traditionalists who measure worth in oaths kept and gates held. They are fixtures of the Noble District, where their stone manor—Meryndor Keep—sits within sight of the Royal Castle's highest towers. Publicly they are courteous, formal, and impeccably loyal; privately they are wary of any faction that would weaken direct Crown authority, including Crystalport autonomy movements and unchecked arcane experimentation.

Their wealth comes less from trade than from Crown grants, border estates in the Avarian Forest, and hereditary offices that carry stipends and honour in equal measure. They view House Harthaven as respected rivals for military prestige and House Valhart—a lesser vassal line—as kin by marriage and service.

The Great War — Meryndor captains led the Royal Guard during the worst sieges against Dalr-aligned forces. The house lost an entire generation of heirs; the survivors rebuilt their line through adoption of loyal knights, including members of House Valhart.
