Moonworld

From Faeloria

Moonworld

(Also known as the Fae Realms, Nightworld, Realm of Reflection)

Overview

The Moonworld is the layered metaphysical realm created by Ariana. It exists in resonance with the Sunworld and is sustained by the vitality, memory, and emotional energy generated within the Mortal Realm.

It is not a separate universe but a reflective layer interwoven with the fabric of the Sunworld.

Cosmological Origin

After Chronos shaped the Sunworld, Ariana layered the Moonworld upon it.

Where Chronos established sequence,

Ariana established resonance.

The Moonworld was designed to:

  • Preserve magical continuity
  • Reflect mortal experience
  • Stabilize arcane flows
  • Prevent existential stagnation

Its creation was an act of maternal defiance against pure finality.

Nature of the Moonworld

The Moonworld is characterized by:

  • Immortality (for most native beings)
  • Emotional and symbolic magic
  • Shifting landscapes
  • Time that flows differently than the Sunworld
  • Deep connection to dreams and memory

It thrives not on physical sustenance but on resonance.

Fae magic draws power from:

  • Mortal myth
  • Mortal triumph
  • Mortal grief
  • Mortal love
  • Mortal conflict

Without the Sunworld's vitality, the Moonworld cannot endure.

Border with the Sunworld: Twilight

The threshold between the Moonworld and the Sunworld is Twilight. In this border state, the veil between mortal and Fae is thin: reflection and remembrance bleed into the realm of becoming, and Fae magic touches the Sunworld most readily. Dusk and dawn are often spoken of as the hours when Twilight is closest. The Twilight Mandate and the Fae intervention during the Shadow Conflict reflect the Moonworld's stake in the mortal realm across this border.

Relationship to the Sunworld

The Moonworld depends on the Sunworld.

This dependence is structural, not parasitic.

If the Sun dims,

the Moon fades.

If mortals cease,

the Fae Realms grow still.

Thus, in times of existential threat, intervention in the Sunworld becomes necessary for Moonworld survival — a truth exemplified during the Shadow Conflict.

Divine Influence

The Moonworld is primarily shaped by:

  • Ariana— Arcane mother and architect
  • Lucien— Chance and unpredictability
  • Eriana — Natural cycles bridging realms
  • Inuera — Transformation within immortality

While Cryos governs the Underworld, his domain intersects the Moonworld only through soul passage.

Cultural Terminology

Among the Fae, the Moonworld is called:

  • The Silver Veil
  • The Evernight Garden
  • The Reflecting Realm
  • The Resonant Court

Mortals typically refer to it as:

  • The Fae Realms
  • The Nightworld
  • The Moonlit Lands

Philosophical Doctrine

A core teaching within the Fae Courts states:

"The Moon shines only because the Sun endures."

This doctrine underpins the Twilight Mandate and the historical intervention during the Shadow Conflict.
