Jacawi are an ancient Fae people of the Moonworld and the first Fae to return to the Sunworld after the wars of the Runeous era. They sheltered in secluded places of nature, including Eldergreen Forest at the site later called Faelight, and avoided contact with humans. Their natural magic requires no runestones. Before Eme's encounter, most human communities knew the Fae only as figures of old folktales; once the Jacawi became known, their unfamiliar power inspired fear in some.
Eme and the Runeous encounter
Eme was the first Jacawi to interact with humans after their return. During the Runeous era, she and a group of humans joined forces in a conflict and overcame the threat together. In the aftermath, the Jacawi began teaching these survivors how to channel magic without depending on runestones. Their teaching was a rediscovery for humanity: earlier mortals had practiced direct magic and may have met Fae, but much of that knowledge had been lost in the age of strife.
The place and exact date of Eme's encounter, and the nature of the conflict, have yet to be recorded.
