Natsuko

Natsuko was a High Elf Monk and one of the heroes of the Chronicle of Faefall. He was the descendant of Alcor (The Fallen Guardian) and the calming presence of the fellowship that restored Alcor to power. In honor of his sacrifice, he ascended to godhood at 10 TRA, and is counted among the Ascended who dwell in the Astral Plane. He is remembered as the friend to all and a beacon of hope for all of Faeloria.

Role in the Chronicle of Faefall

Natsuko was one of the band of adventurers drawn together by fate in the forsaken temple—each a descendant of the old pantheon—to collect the shards of Alcor's Tear, purify Alcor's Heart, and return the fallen god to his original splendour. The Chronicles of Faeloria describe him as a kind-hearted High Elf Monk: the calming presence amidst the chaos, with a robust strength that came from his training in the martial arts. His congenial demeanour made him the group's diplomat, winning friends and defusing conflicts with equal ease.

The purification ritual demanded a sacrifice: the descendant of Alcor had to relinquish his divine spark to restore the god. Natsuko, bound by duty and fate, accepted. Against the foreseen outcome, he survived—bereft only of the spirit of Alcor within him. With Alcor restored, the world entered the new era, 0 TRA (The Return of Alcor).

In the aftermath, Natsuko and Neacal (the Wood Elf Barbarian, heir of Ariana) journeyed on together, their bond cemented through shared trials; they embarked on a new quest and remained close companions.

Ascension (10 TRA)

At 10 TRA, in honour of his sacrifice, Natsuko ascended to godhood. The once High Elf Monk, who had relinquished his divine spark to restore Alcor, found himself in the company of the very pantheon his lineage traced back to. Natsuko, the friend to all, became a beacon of hope for all of Faeloria. His ascension is remembered as a testament that even amidst trials and tribulations, one can rise above and become something more—something divine.

He is numbered among the Ascended—mortals who underwent apotheosis and now dwell in the Astral Plane, the border between the Sunworld and the Celestial vantage. There he exists in a state between mortal memory and divine permanence.

Shrine and pilgrimage

In the Free City of Ix, a grand shrine was erected in Natsuko's honour. Pilgrims from all corners of Faeloria journey to pay their respects, and his shrine has become a place of hope and aspiration. Ix, which had long held Alcor's Heart in its tallest tower, thus also became a centre of devotion to the mortal who gave his spark to restore the fallen guardian and who later joined the divine.

Firsthand accounts: Elara's Diary

Elara's Diary, recovered from the archives of Ix, offers a more intimate portrait of Natsuko during the Faefall. Elara writes that he carried himself with the bearing of someone trained and disciplined, yet there was something almost childlike in the way he approached the world—endlessly curious, asking questions that should sound foolish but somehow did not. On one occasion he attempted to vault a low stone wall and misjudged the height entirely; he recovered with such seriousness that it was impossible not to laugh. She reflects that he did not realise how naturally amusing he could be.

When the fellowship faced tension after a dangerous outburst of magic at Natplio, Natsuko watched with a seriousness that stripped away his usual warmth—a reminder that his kindness was matched by clarity. During the ordeal of the highland pass, when Neacal faltered, it was Natsuko who reached him without hesitation. The two were seen afterward speaking in low tones apart from the rest; something between them had deepened. They walked together more often, their steps matching without conscious effort. In the Blackmane Spire, Natsuko's lantern lit the way. By the diary's final entry, Neacal and Natsuko stand together more often than apart, speaking quietly about matters that no longer feel fragile.

These details—his curiosity, his accidental comedy, his loyalty to Neacal, and his steadiness in crisis—round out the image of the monk who became a god: the friend to all, who gave his spark for the world and then rose to join the pantheon he had helped restore.

Legacy

Natsuko's legacy is twofold: as the mortal hero who sacrificed his divine heritage to restore Alcor and usher in the era of TRA, and as one of the Ascended—a god who embodies hope, friendship, and the possibility of transcendence. His shrine in Ix remains a destination for pilgrims, and his name is invoked alongside Alcor's in tales of protection, sacrifice, and renewal.
