Ix

The Free City of Ix (commonly Ix) is a sovereign city-state in north-eastern Faeloria. It is not part of Luxor—it stands apart under its own charter, open to all who hold good and true hearts, and charged since the Fall of Alcor with safeguarding his Heart.

History

After 0 AFA (the Fall of Alcor), surviving mages placed Alcor's dimmed heart in the tallest tower of Ix. At 100 AFA, the city declared independence as The Free City, dedicating itself to the protection of the heart and to sheltering the worthy.

During the darkest years before Faefall, the heart's light faded and the realm's barriers weakened. The heroes of the Chronicle of Faefall gathered the shards of Alcor's Tear and performed the ritual that restored the fallen god—ushering in 0 TRA (The Return of Alcor).

At 10 TRA, Natsuko ascended to godhood in honour of his sacrifice. A grand shrine to Natsuko was erected in Ix, making the free city a centre of both divine guardianship and mortal hope.

Present role

Ix remains a pilgrimage destination for those who honour Alcor and Natsuko. The Archives of Ix hold recovered texts such as Elara's Diary, and the city's towers still guard the legacy of the celestial guardian.

Relationship to Luxor

Ix lies within Luxor's broader north-eastern region and maintains strong trade and cultural ties with Norin, capital of Luxor, but its sovereignty is explicit: Ix answers to its own council and charter, not to the Luxoran crown.
